Spatial Proteomics Innovation Grant 2026

The Spatial Proteomics Innovation (SPI) grant program seeks to empower researchers in Asia Pacific region and provide access to our state-of-the-art Invitrogen™ EVOS™ S1000 Spatial Imaging System, spatial imaging reagents for multiplex immunofluorescence applications, workflow consultation, and scientific collaboration opportunities to push the boundaries of what spatial proteomics research can accomplish. 


Eligibility

The grant is open to all applicants from universities, research institutes, academic centers, hospital and biotech companies affiliated to the Asia Pacific (Countries include Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, South Korea, Japan, India, Taiwan) region. Applicants are required to fulfill the following criteria at the point of application:

  • Principal investigators, scientists, and researchers are based in Asia Pacific countries and possess extensive research experience and peer-reviewed publications in their fields of study.

  • Target tissue sample for analysis has been identified and established; proof of concept has been achieved with the existing technology.
  • Researchers have the relevant scientific and technical background necessary to direct and commit to the grant project throughout the grant period.

  • Laboratory facility has sufficient tissue preparation, labeling and handling experience.

  • Submission demonstrates scientific novelty and critical application to EVOS™ S1000 Spatial Imaging system.

  • Must not be Healthcare Professionals. “Healthcare Professionals” are defined as individuals or entities (a) authorized or licensed to provide healthcare services and/or items to patients or (b) who is involved in the use of or decision to purchase, prescribe, order, or recommend medical technology. For avoidance of doubt, individuals working at / affiliated with hospitals, but who do not fall under the definition of Healthcare Professionals, are eligible to apply.

Proposal submissions will be considered in the following areas:

  • Neurosciences
  • Tissue engineering/reconstruction
  • Microenvironmental analysis
  • Translational research 
  • Immuno-oncology
  • Disease modelling and progression studies
  • Aging 

Funding principles

The SPI Grant 2026 will have one (1) grand winner and two (2) runner-up awards:

  • The grand winner will be awarded with a no-cost rental of  Invitrogen™ EVOS™ S1000 Spatial Imaging system and up to USD $10,000 worth of Thermo Fisher spatial reagent consumables (selected from the list provided) for the project over a 6-month period. The initial grant may be renewable for additional months depending on research outcome, progress reports and amended applications.
  • Each of the runner-ups will be awarded up to USD $6,000 worth of Thermo Fisher Spatial reagent consumables (selected from the list provided) for the project over a 6-month period. 

Additional details on grant terms and reporting requirements will be made available to recipients upon award. The grant is subject to and conditional upon the execution of a collaborative research agreement between Thermo Fisher Scientific and the successful applicant. Other terms and conditions may apply.

Terms and Conditions

The following terms and conditions apply for every submission:

  • Submission must demonstrate scientific novelty and impact of technology, process, and/or application relevant to EVOS S1000 Spatial Imaging System.
  • Submissions must be made in English.
  • The winner must complete and sign the award contract within 30 days that will necessarily state the rights and obligations of parties including IPR, commercials etc. Failure to accept the contract may result in loss of the award, in which case the runner-up will be considered, solely at Thermo Fisher Scientific’s discretion.
  • Projects are expected to be completed within 6 months and may be extended on a case-by-case basis, subject to further application and approval.
  • Thermo Fisher Scientific reserves the right to approve or decline any application. Applications are reviewed by a review committee. A grant in one cycle does not guarantee future funding.
  • Thermo Fisher Scientific may change, suspend, or end the program at any time without notice.
  • Applicants may be disqualified for violating the Terms and Conditions or harming the program’s reputation.
  • Applicants must follow all applicable laws, Thermo Fisher Scientific’s terms, and their institutional policies.
  • Applicants are responsible for complying with all relevant laws in the country where research work is carried out, including those related to medical devices, pharmaceuticals, drugs, and cosmetics.
